Waxwings Crossflatts today am

60 or so Waxwings still at Crossflatts this morning. Initially actively feeding high up in a Sycamore tree at the entrance to Castlefield Lane, presumably feeding on insects. Later were seen feeding intermittently on Rowan Tree berries on Evergreen Walk. Light wasn't good for photography but here are my best attempts. Stephen

Decided to try Fly Flats to see the twite mentioned earlier by Stephen Lilley. Only saw small flock of 4 birds, all ringed. These were quite approachable though.

Twite Fly Flats

I noted the recent sighting of Twite at Fly Flatts by our colleagues over the border so decided to take a break from domestic duties and see if they were still there. Sure enough a similar sized flock ( 20 or so) were present. They were however very "flighty" didn't settle , obviously nervous of my presence, as I tried to manoeuvre my position to get a good shot. Did manage a couple of distant shots however.
