Knowing where to see these beautiful creatures & a little stealth enabled me to get these shots.

 

Sparrow hawk.

This young bird was present along with another the other flew of but this bird stayed for app: 15 mins.

Lesser redpoll.

This bird has visited our feeder for the last few days.

An enjoyable day at Blacktoft today with a BOG colleague, produced a couple of "firsts" for me. Waders on show included   Greenshank, Green Sandpiper and Snipe.  (see photos below).

  Other birds seen were Spotted Redshank, Ruff, Bearded Tit and Yellow Wagtail(4). Marsh  Harrier (1juv 1 ad)

The first for stockbridge N/R.

This nuthatch flew on to the feeder on 2-8-12 the very first since the reserve was established.

More lizards

Yesterday was such a scortcher I decided to look again for lizards before the weather alters, I saw 6 adults & the one juvenile' the first picture of the juvenile is what you see naturally the others are zoomed in.

Holly blue

Second brood holly blue defined by large dark band on outer win.

Butterflies

Some of the butterflies found in the B. O. G. area.

Various shots of males & females on the reserve.

Common Lizards.

These pictures bely the stealth needed to approach these reptiles seen on the moorland fringes above Oldfield.

2 x Juvenile Crossbills at Timble this afternoon.
