Kestrel Members only Res

Called at the above on the way home yesterday, hoping to see Dave and his "copulating slugs", no luck! well I did see Dave and this Kestrel.

Wheaters, Nab Water Lane today

Following Brians report of numerous Wheatears on Nab Water Lane I went up there this morning, and sure enough there they were. These shots were taken from within my car, fortunately there was little traffic. On foot I find Wheatears difficult to get close to.

It is interesting now that the Trektellen records are comming in, to see that this corresponded with an influx of this species in the Low Countries. To date 296 movers to be exact with the largest count being 136 past Cap Gris-Nes watchpoint. See:

There are even some photos of the movers here as well.

Cant find any other internet available UK records of inland or even coastal passage birds relative to this Country, although I am sure there must be some. Any one know of any?

Saturday Otley

Think this is a Common Blue Damselfly

Emerald Damsel at Otley.

Plenty of these Grasshoppers about at Otley.

I think this is a Common Darter damsel, there were dozens at Otley Wetlands Saturday probably new emerged, non seemed to be mature males.

The once rare in the north of England, Comma, now common in my garden.

Help with Moths!

I have given this one quite a lot of thought but still cant find it. It looks like some kind of a Rustic or an Uncertain to me but I cant be sure! Can anyone help? Photo was taken with flash about two weeks ago when it came in to light through my open kitchen door.

Hi Tom and Mark, This looks like another Twin spot Carpet to me? but better marked and more buff this time. Photo taken with flash at dusk which could be responsible for the colour rendering.

ID Help Please

Can anyone help to ID until my new mothing book comes. The moth was very small (it looks massive here!) and was not the only one of the species. The photograph was taken in gloomy light without flash as it kept settling on the dark side of the dry stone wall at dusk.
