Additional entertainment was provided at the Grey Phalarope site this morning by a weasel hunting in the undergrowth along the edge of the pool....... at times perilously close to the GP.
A few 'squeaks' tempted it out momentarily to pose for the first shot after which it resumed hunting before soon emerging with a frog that must have weighed almost as much as the weasel. How do they manage to run so quickly whilst carrying such a heavy load?
I'm sorry the 'running' shot is not very sharp however I include it here to show just how big the frog was compared with the weasel....look under the weasel's belly and you can see the trailing leg of the frog.
