The following images were taken of breeding birds at Glovershaw, Baildon. Curlews, Lapwings, Snipe, Oystercatcher, Skylark, Meadow Pipits, Reed Buntings, Willow Warbler, Linnets, Stonechat and Yellowhammer can be seen around the moorland fringes. Park at the top of Shipley Glen and check the large areas of bracken which house a good number of breeding birds at this time year. Walk along the Glen Road where Stonechat and Yellowhammer are often seen. This is the best, place to see the locally scarce Yellowhammer. Cross over Glovershaw Lane and walk with the Golf Course on your right hand side. Check the wall and fields on the left for Lapwings, Snipe, Curlew, Stock Dove and Stonechat. During April and May this is an excellent place to watch out for Wheatears and an occasional Whinchat. These birds will return on passage in August and September. Once you reach the 'gallops' and the '12th hole', Skylarks, Linnets, Stonechats and perhaps a Whitethroat will have been seen. Return to your car by way of Golcar Farm which is over to the left. On the walls and fences, you may see families of Stonechats, Meadow Pipits and Grey Partridge are often disturbed as you walk through the fields. At Golcar Farm, Swallows, Stock Dove, Goldfinch and Greenfinch are always there, and during September, Spotted Flycatcher has been seen.
