More Siskins Riddlesden garden

Whenever Siskins appear in my garden it always seems to be this time of year, early spring. Very rarely see them in winter, even though I have feeders out , any suggestions why ? Is this a male and a female?

Mink and Water Rail

Evidence of mink and water rail residing on Lindley Wood Reservoir, observed this afternoon, West of the road bridge on the North bank. Also seen, amongst other species, were, 7+ common snipe and 7 whooper swans.
Apologies for poor images but this was as good as I could manage from the opposite bank.
