I was disappointed by the lack of dragons and damsels at St Ives this morning so I sat quietly hoping to photograph the birds as they came to drink and bathe.
The stars of the show were a party of 4 Crossbills that visited several times (or several parties of 4 that visited once!) Other visitors drinking or bathing included several Mistle Thrush, Song Thrush, Blackbird, Goldfinch, Chaffinch, Woodpigeon, Chaffinch, Greenfinch, Blue Tit and Garden Warbler. A very busy couple of hours!

Very nice shots of the Crossbill Ian. I have heard many times they were at St Ives but as yet I have never seen them. This is another of the many birds I have yet to photograph. Thanks for sharing and for the information.

Thank you Graham, I returned again this morning and whilst it was generally much quieter nevertheless the presumably the same four Crossbills put in an appearance and there was also a flock of at least 40 birds flew over but didn't drop in.
