ID Help Please
Oxenhope Watchpoint 02-08-2008 (c) 2008
Oxenhope Watchpoint 08-08-2008 (c) 2008
Can anyone help to ID until my new mothing book comes. The moth was very small (it looks massive here!) and was not the only one of the species. The photograph was taken in gloomy light without flash as it kept settling on the dark side of the dry stone wall at dusk.
Many thanks,
Dave

Hi Dave,
I'm Sure Tom H will know but I can say it looks like a Carpet sp to me. Similar to Garden Carpet but it might be something else as it's way up at Oxenhope. Look at the UKmoths website which is an excellent resource when you need to confirm species.

Hi Dave,
Mark was correct on two counts....it is a Carpet sp. and I will know what it is. he-he !
It's a Twin-spot Carpet (Perizoma didymata).
Tom
Sorry, can't help with the hoverfly. I try to steer clear of flies, spiders and bugs. You could try the UK-Hoverflies Yahoogroup.

Mark and Tom,
Thank you both for your help, I will look it up in the book i have got and on UKMoths. I have another moth photo to post when i get chance..... If I dont get my new, hopefully more user friendly book first!
